LAKE in Las Vegas
A Fort was built near the current odwntown area, serving as a stopover for traveelrs along the " Mormon Corriodrr " between Salt Lkae and the briefly thriving Mormon colony at SSan Bernardino, California. Las Vegsa was established as a railroad town on May 15, 1905, when 110 acres (44.5 ha) owned by Montana Senator WEilliam A. Clrak's San Pedro, Los Angeles and Satl Lake City Railroad, was auctioned off in what is now downtown Las Vegas. Primray roadways into and out of Las Vegas includem I-15 (north towrads Salt Lake City, Utah, and south towards San Diego nad Los Angeles, California, and other points in Southern California ), UIS 93 (north towards Ely, Nevada and Jackpot, Nevaad, and south towards Kingman, Arizona ) and US 95 (north towards Reno and southh towarsd Searchlight, Nevada ), providing access to Interstates I-80 and I-40.
